We’re getting ready to sell the Sable soon, so as a courtesy to my wife’s faithful vehicle of seven years, I gave it a good wash and sheltered it from the thousands of birds that seem to love to poop on it.

I am not looking forward to selling it... I don’t much enjoy selling cars in general.

If anyone on oppo is looking for a cheap running gladiator, you are free to inquire. This is not a prestine vehicle but I sure as hell won’t sell it to pick n pull for their generous offer of 160 bucks.

That offer is purely junk price. I got $200 for my 98 Taurus with a blow head gasket and maybe more wrong.

I know and they even explain that on the phone. I’m not insulted or anything — scrap is low value right now. But this is a driveable car that I will now have to sell to a private party. Or I have to part out random crap and scrap the remainder. Property is pretty cluttered as is though.

That’s the idea really. Ugh, one thing about selling cars is that as the owner, I’m used to all of the many imperfection and non-working features this has. But will the buyer accept that as I have? Probably not, which is also why we’ll be selling it for less than half the KBB, and probably accepting an even lower offer.

I just bought one that has some bad spots on it and isn’t too great. I’m going to price it at $1500 so whomever tries to buy it doesn’t go lower than I am comfortable with.

Does everything work on it? Our Sable has a near-flawless powertrain, but really everything else hasn’t been durable...

A majority of things do. The track on the passenger side window broke, it sounds like there is a hole in the exhaust and there are rust holes in the floorpan. I would take stuff going out over that rust any day.
